Content Creation & Video Editing – Mondays, Mar 23rd to Apr 20th, 5:00PM – 6:30PM – $125
During this class, your child will explore their creativity while producing unique content. They will get an overview of hardware and software requirements, streaming platforms (such as Twitch and YouTube), audio, video editing, graphic design, and more. They will be able to configure their setup, get behind the camera and microphone, and share the final results online (or just with family and friends). Instructor: Ryan O’Connell.
Pixel Art: Character Creation – Tuesdays, Mar 24th to Apr 21st, 5:00PM – 6:30PM – $125
Step into the world of pixel artistry and bring your unique characters to life! In this class, you’ll design, outfit, and animate characters, creating everything from basic moves like running and jumping to complex sequences like victory, defeat, and attacks. By the end, participants will have digital stills and GIFs of their creations to share with friends and family. The Affinity Esports Study & Play Club is dedicated to creating a safe and enjoyable environment for children in grades 2-8. Our program runs from 3:00pm until 5:00pm, Monday through Thursday, and 3:00pm until 6:00pm on Friday for the entire season from August to December. Kids can take the YMCA bus after school and be guided to our program within the YMCA. At our club, we provide a balanced mix of activities designed to keep children engaged and enriched. Our Homework Help sessions ensure that children have the support they need to succeed academically. In our Gaming sessions, children can enjoy supervised video games and tabletop games that emphasize skill-building and friendly competition. We also prioritize physical activity and fresh air with regular Outdoor Breaks, allowing children to recharge and stay active. Additionally, our program fosters socialization, helping children develop essential social skills and build lasting friendships through group activities and collaborative projects. The program provides a supportive and structured environment that emphasizes online safety, sportsmanship, and healthy gaming habits. Through guided gameplay and an introduction to competitive Minecraft and esports concepts, students will sharpen their skills, elevate their passion for gaming, and build valuable soft skills that translate beyond the screen.

Get ready to level up your play and learn the fundamentals of competitive gaming in a fun, supportive environment. This Esports Foundations Workshop introduces players to core mechanics, teamwork strategies, and healthy habits while playing Fortnite, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Marvel Rivals. Whether your player is brand new to these titles or wants to sharpen their skills, our experienced coaches guide each session with structured coaching, positive feedback, and a focus on enjoyment. This workshop is a great chance to develop game sense, build confidence, and connect with peers who share a passion for gaming and esports. There will also be peers present from our Competitive Esports Teams to help run the sessions.
