Camp Gordyland Extended Care Options

Camp Gordyland offers extended care before the camp day begins (7:30-9am) and after (3pm-6pm). Registration for Extended Care opens in the Spring and must be completed prior to the week of care needed. For example, camp begins Monday, June 24th. In order for a camper to attend Extended Care starting this first week, registration would need to occur by Monday, June 17th. Registration closes on the Monday of the week prior for Extended Care, unless at capacity. Extended Care is available for all 5 days each week (4 days for the Week of July 1st). AM Care- Monday – Friday 8am-9am

PM Care-  Monday- Friday, end of camp day- 6pm

Combo AM & PM Care- available Monday- Friday

Single Day Drop-In AM or PM available

Past Examples of  PM Care Options:

·        Timing: 3pm – 6pm

·        Grades: CTCT – Teen

·        Description: Campers are grouped by ages in PM Care with a PM Care counselor. Snack in provided (Goldfish, applesauce, cheese stick, pretzels, etc.), campers are welcome to bring a PM Snack, please Peanut/ tree-nut free). They will have activities which may include Mini Golf, Playground, Gaga, and free play in the classroom. Pick-up is by 6pm, from the Activity Center. Staff are available to bring campers from PM Care to a scheduled swim class or Swim Practice.

Archery Academy

For children entering 3rd – 8th grades

  Time: 3pm – 6pm

 Our USA Archery-certified instructors will keep every day fresh and fun with new techniques to improve shooting and new crafts to enhance the experience. This camp will get beginners up to speed with proper form and safety procedures and allow intermediate archers to stretch their skills past what most camps can offer. If the archery in your group’s schedule isn’t enough, this is the camp for you!

Comic Book Club:

·        Weeks running: TBD

·        Timing: 3:15pm – 5:15pm

·        Grades: Week 4 – Grades 1st, 2nd, 3rd.  Week 5 – Grades 4th, 5th, 6th.

·        Description:

o   Week 4: Characters! Let’s draw our own characters and learn about using basic shapes to build original cartoons!  We will cover the anatomy of a character, shading techniques, facial expressions, and character design, in bite-sized steps.  Then we’ll color our creations and explore strategies used by professional cartoonists. Students also have the chance to create their own original characters using techniques learned during The Comic Tree Workshop.  Join instructor Phil Lohmeyer of TheComicTree.com, and let’s focus on cartoon characters!

o   Week 5: Comics! Let’s draw our own comics and learn about adding speech, thought, and emotion to original cartoons!  We will cover the anatomy of a comic strip, shading techniques, and facial expressions, in bite-sized steps.  Then we’ll color our creations, learn storytelling concepts, and explore strategies used by professional cartoonists. Students also have the chance to create their own original comic strips using techniques learned during The Comic Tree Workshop.  Join instructor Phil Lohmeyer of TheComicTree.com, and let’s focus on comic strips!

Racquet Sports Club:

·        Grades: 2nd – CIT

·        Description: Come learn a variety of racquet sports from our very own paddle pro! With having use of the paddle courts, the gymnasium and the sand volleyball court, campers will get to experience and learn the skills needed for different racquet sports including Pickleball, Paddle Tennis, Touch Tennis, Beach Tennis and Badminton! We are excited to see our campers get interested in some new sports!
