Swim Angelfish to Host Second Annual All-Inclusive Adaptive Water Safety Event in Wilton
Life-Saving Water Safety Skills for Children with Special Needs
On Sunday, July 27, 2025, from 10:00 am to noon, Swim Angelfish, a leading adaptive aquatic company, will hold its second annual All-Inclusive Water Safety Event at the Wilton YMCA. This engaging event introduces children with autism, anxiety, sensory needs, motor challenges, or those who learn differently to life-saving water safety skills through resources, crafts, stories, and interactive swim activities.
Accidental drowning is the leading cause of death for children with autism. According to the National Autism Association, children with autism are 160 times more likely to drown than their neurotypical peers. To address this, children with autism require swimming lessons delivered by specially trained instructors, like those from Swim Angelfish, adept at teaching their unique needs.
The All-Inclusive Water Safety Event is proudly supported by the Wilton YMCA, Stewie the Duck Swim School, and EQUIP Rehabilitation at Quinnipiac University.
With Autism rates now at 1 in 31 U.S. children and still climbing, a crucial safety gap exists: drowning is the leading cause of death for this population and is often linked to impulsivity and wandering. To address this, children with Autism require swim lessons delivered by specially trained instructors adept at teaching their unique needs. This is precisely the mission of Swim Angelfish, an organization dedicated to transforming abilities and saving lives through expert training and resources.
Families of children with special needs may register for the event, which is free of charge. Registration is open through 7/22.
