The Riverbrook Regional YMCA is Awarded Praesidium Accreditation

The Riverbrook Regional YMCA is pleased to announce that it has been awarded Praesidium Accreditation. As an accredited YMCA, and with their dedicated Praesidium Guardian, Kimberly Fejes, the Y is committed to safeguarding youth and vulnerable adults now and for years to come, from sexual abuse.

“As an educator, camp and preschool director, and an individual who has dedicated over twenty years to working with children, I am honored to represent our organization as our Praesidium Guardian. This accreditation is a testament to our team’s unwavering commitment to safety, extensive training, and dedication to creating an environment where both youth and vulnerable adults are protected. Our year-round and seasonal staff are equipped to be trusted adults, recognize warning signs, and uphold the highest standards of care. This achievement reflects our mission to foster safe spaces where every child and individual feels secure and supported,” Fejes said.

Achieving this accreditation took approximately 10 months, which included site visits, interviews, and a thorough review of our policies and procedures, along with successfully implementation of any necessary updates and developments.

“We are proud to be among the early pilot groups selected for this initiative. In the coming years, all YMCAs will be required to obtain accreditation,” Fejes said.

The Y participated in 5 Days of Action as part of Child Abuse Prevention Month, which ran from April 21-25, 2025. This week-long campaign raises awareness and motivates adults to take proactive steps to protect children from sexual abuse.
